Al Horford says his free agency decision “would have been totally different” had he known Kemba Walker was coming to the Boston Celtics.

Horford signed a four-year, $109 million contract with the Philadelphia 76ers this summer, ending his three-year run with the Celtics.

Walker, as part of a sign-and-trade deal with the Charlotte Hornets, agreed to a four-year deal with the Celtics this offseason.

And what about if he’d known Kemba Walker was coming. Horford paused.

“I don’t want to get caught up in the past,” Horford told the Boston Herald. “But, yeah, that would have been totally different.”

Al Horford averaged 13.6 points, 6.7 rebounds and 4.2 assists last season with the Celtics while shooting 53.5 percent from the field, 36.0 percent from beyond the arc and 82.1 percent from the free-throw line.

Kemba Walker has career averages of 19.8 points, 3.8 rebounds and 5.5 assists in 605 games. He put up 25.6 points and 5.9 assists this past season with the Hornets.

Walker is replacing Kyrie Irving as the floor general in Boston. Kemba is one of the best slashers and finishers in the league. The three-time All-Star always commands heavy traffic around him when he’s driving toward the basket.

Walker's new Celtics teammates are going to get wide-open looks when he penetrates to the rim and collapses the defense. Unfortunately, Walker won't have Horford on his side.
