Boston Celtics director of player personnel Austin Ainge says his father, Celtics general manager Danny Ainge, is doing “great” after suffering a mild heart attack in April.

Danny suffered the heart attack before the Celtics took on the Indiana Pacers in the first round of the playoffs. He is not with the team in Chicago at the NBA Draft Combine.

“He’s back at it,” said Celtics director of player personnel Austin Ainge, who is also Danny’s son, via the Boston Globe. “He’s doing great. He’s been texting me 100 times a day. He loves his job, and he wants to continue doing it.

“It was scary in the moment for sure. But the doctors found the problem and fixed it, and he feels great moving forward. It’s one of those things that’s very scary in the moment, but he’s healthier now than he was a month ago, so that’s all positive.”

The Celtics have the 14th overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft. The team will likely try to trade for New Orleans Pelicans superstar Anthony Davis this summer.

The Celtics also have to re-sign star point guard Kyrie Irving, who becomes an unrestricted free agent once he declines his 2019-20 player option with Boston. Trading for Davis will surely convince Irving to stay in Boston.
