Boston Celtics legend Bill Russell has shared his thoughts on recent statements made by United States President Donald Trump about kneeling during the national anthem. Based on his reaction, it is safe to say that Russell is in complete disagreement with President Trump saying that kneeling during the anthem is a blatant sign of disrespect.

Russell took to Twitter to air his grievance, and this was his message addressed directly at Trump:

At this point it no longer comes as a surprise when even the biggest celebrities call out Trump. Russell took it a step further, though, by calling the commander in chief a “coward.” Needless to say, Russell is standing (or kneeling) against Trump and everything he has been doing throughout the nationwide uprising brought about by the death of George Floyd at the hands of Minneapolis police on May 25.

Russell has always been at the forefront of the fight for civil rights. The 86-year-old and his wife even took to the streets recently to participate in the peaceful protests. This just goes to show that no one should have any excuse to stand up for one's beliefs.

This is also not the first time Russell has gone off on President Trump. The Celtics legend has emerged as a staunch critic of the president, as Russell has also been critical of how the government has been handling the coronavirus pandemic in the nation.
