Boston Celtics legend Bill Russell has sent out a rallying call for the C's as he hopes for them to draw inspiration from the recent passing of former Celtics great John Havlicek.

Havlicek passed away on Thursday at the age of 79, and there was no shortage of tributes for the basketball Hall of Famer. Former teammate Bill Russell is only one of the thousands who continue to mourn the passing of another legend, and he is now calling on the current Celtics squad to try and go all the way this season in memory of Havlicek.

Russell and Havlicek were teammates in Boston for eight seasons, winning six NBA titles during their time together. Havlicek would go on to win two more championships after Russell's retirement in 1969, bringing up his tally to eight. Russell, on the other hand, is an 11-time NBA champion.

The Celtics last lifted the title back in 2008, with the likes of Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce leading the charge. It has been over a decade since the city last tasted a championship, and for some, a title back in Boston is long overdue.

As Russell expressed, this season might be the year the C's go all the way again. They took a huge step towards this objective on Sunday, as they defeated the league-best Milwaukee Bucks, 112-90, in Game 1 of their second-round matchup. This was a crucial away victory, and Boston will definitely want to make it two-for-two when they face off again on Tuesday for Game 2.
