The Boston Celtics grabbed a 2-0 series score over the Cleveland Cavaliers with a 107-94 win on Tuesday night to take a commanding lead. It was an impressive team performance that saw them overcome a triple-double effort by LeBron James behind a game-high 42 points.

This has put the Celtics in an extremely beneficial position heading into Game 3 where they could move yet another step closer to an NBA Finals appearance. According to Jared Weiss of The Athletic, the Celtics have never lost a playoff series when up by this margin through the first two games played.

Although these numbers are quite encouraging, it is difficult to count out any team that is led by LeBron James in any situation. He has shown the ability to lead his team back from just about any deficit in a series with the most infamous being the 2016 NBA Finals against the Golden State Warriors after trailing 3-1 on the brink of elimination.

However, the Celtics have continued to show great balance offensively that has helped offset any high level of production from James. It has been typical for him to respond from a discouraging performance with a strong offensive outing, which he did in Game 2 but Boston was able to weather the storm and use a big third quarter to push them ahead after trailing by double figures in the first half, scoring 36 points in the period.

The Celtics will need more collective efforts in order to top James and the Cavalier. The team will likely roll in Game 3 as a highly-motivated bunch. Nonetheless, Boston now finds itself in an encouraging position to upend Cleveland for a chance to secure a trip to the NBA Finals.
