Boston Celtics swingman Jaylen Brown did not mince words about what his team needs to do to get out of the horrible funk they've had over the last few games.

Shortly after the Celtics squandered a 24-point third-quarter lead that led to a 120-115 overtime loss to the New Orleans Pelicans on Sunday, a fed-up Brown said Boston needs to mature and grow up, per The Athletic's Jay King.

The 24-year-old scorer added that the Celtics are developing the ugly habit of playing complacent basketball whenever they hold big leads, a problem that has been prevalent in their 4-6 stretch in the last 10 games.

Jaylen Brown's disappointment is udnerstandable, considering he gave everything he's got against NOLA with 25 points, six rebounds and nine assists. However, his cold shooting night did hurt his team a bit, going just 7-for-23 from the field and 3-of-10 from downtown.

With the loss, the Celtics now drop out of the Top 4 in the Eastern Conference standings with a 15-15 slate and are now tied with the Toronto Raptors for fifth and sixth.

While Boston had no problems scoring getting 32 from Jayson Tatum and 14 apiece from Kemba Walker and Tristan Thompson, it was once again their questionable defensive effort that sparked their doom.

The Cs surrendered an NBA record 50 points in 18 minutes to allow the Pels to storm back from a mighty deficit.

Despite the Celtics' underwhelming start to the 2020-21 campaign, Brown is still expected to make it to his first All-Star team when the reserves get announced on Tuesday.
