The Boston Celtics are already preparing for alternative moves this summer in hopes of remaining a serious contender in the Eastern Conference next season.

Shams Charania of The Athletic said on Sirius XM NBA that the Celtics are looking to sign a big man in free agency this summer. Charania said that the Celtics will take a serious look at Orlando Magic center Nikola Vucevic, who is set to become a free agent this summer.

The Celtics are in a tough situation this offseason, as they are expected to lose two key players in free agency. Starting point guard Kyrie Irving and starting center Al Horford has already opted out of the final years of their respective contracts and are reportedly looking to sign elsewhere.

There is a strong belief that Irving will be heading to the Brooklyn Nets after having a tumultuous year in Boston. Horford, on the other hand, has stopped talking to the Celtics about a three-year deal and is expected to move to another team next month.

Aside from Vucevic, the Celtics have also expressed interest in Houston Rockets center Clint Capela. According to Ian Begley of SNY, the Celtics and the Rockets had preliminary talks about a trade involving the hulking center.
