The Boston Celtics are re-signing free agent guard Brad Wanamaker to a one-year deal, per Adrian Wojanrowski of ESPN.

Wanamaker, who turns 30 years old on July 25th, signed with the Celtics originally last summer after playing six seasons of professional ball in Europe, then making him the league's oldest “rookie.”

Before that, Wanamaker, a Pennsylvania native, played four collegiate seasons at the University of Pittsburgh. The 6-foot-4 point guard entered the 2011 NBA Draft following his senior year only to go undrafted. He later played outside the United States with various clubs in Italian, French, German, and Turkish leagues.

Wanamaker signed with Boston in July of 2018. He appeared in 36 games in his first season in the NBA for the Celtics, shooting 47.6% from the field.

The Celtics are shoring up their guard depth following the departure of All-Star point guard Kyrie Irving, who's signing with the Brooklyn Nets to join friend and former league MVP forward Kevin Durant. Boston signed UConn product Kemba Walker, formerly of the Charlotte Hornets, to a max deal this offseason, too, to be their starting floor general going forward.

Wanamaker will be more depth for the Celtics as long-time backup point guard Terry Rozier signed a three-year deal nearly worth $60 million with Charlotte.

Per 36 minutes, Wanamaker averaged 14.7 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 5.9 assists, and he also shot 41% from three-point range and 85.7% from the free-throw line.
