During Thursday's showdown with the Los Angeles Clippers, the Boston Celtics announced they're going to retire Kevin Garnett's No. 5 jersey next season at TD Garden.

 

Garnett felt honored and thankful when he found out about the exciting news.

“I'm honored and thankful to have my number retired with the Celtics. I will always have immense respect and appreciation for ownership, Danny Ainge, Doc Rivers, my past teammates and Celtic Nation !”

Garnett played phenomenal in his time in the NBA.  Garnett was a 15-time All-Star and a four-time first-team All-NBA.

In six seasons with the Celtics, Garnett averaged 15.7 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 2.7 assists in 31 minutes. He helped lead the Celtics to their 17th championship in the 2007-2008 season.

Garnett retired in 2016 after playing 21 seasons in the NBA. He made $326 million in his career, the most in NBA history.
