The Boston Celtics told teams this summer small forwards Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum were off the table in trade talks.

An opposing executive told Keith Smith of Celtics Blog his team called the Celtics asking about Brown and Boston quickly told him both Brown and Tatum weren't going anywhere.

“That’s the guy we wanted to steal,” the exec said. “Our thought was, ‘They have Tatum and (Gordon) Hayward and drafted another wing, maybe they are out on Brown.' And boy were we wrong. The conversation got about as far as the Jay sound out of my mouth and they said, ‘Neither Jayson or Jaylen are on the table for you.' So, yeah. They love that kid.”

Both Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum have All-Star potential. With Kyrie Irving and Al Horford gone, both youngsters are going to see their usage rates go up in 2019-20. Kemba Walker figures to mesh well with Brown and Tatum. The three-time All-Star was in Paris with Tatum this summer and says both Brown and Tatum are good dudes.

Tatum has career averages of 14.8 points, 5.5 rebounds and 1.9 assists, while Brown has career numbers of 11.2 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.3 assists. The Celtics are expecting big things from both guys next season.
