The Boston Celtics are still tweaking their roster as they try to find a rhythm during a sluggish start to the season, deciding to part ways with two-way guard Walter Lemon Jr.:

Lemon, now 26 years of age, signed his two-way deal with the Celtics on July 25. He spent the majority of his time with Boston's G League affiliate, the Maine Red Claws, where he averaged over 23.0 points per game, but the Chicago native did get some playing time with the Celtics as well. Last season, Lemon served a pair of 10-day contracts with the New Orleans Pelicans, where he played in five games.
Boston is now left with one two-way player on the roster (P.J. Dozier), which means they could take on another one if they so choose. Players who sign two-way deals can spend only 45 days with the team, and they must have four years of experience or fewer in the league. It must also be noted that a two-way player can't join the team for the postseason unless they are on a guaranteed deal.
The exact reason for Lemon's waiving is still unknown, but there is a good chance the Celtics felt they have more than enough depth in the backcourt.
Boston will be back in action on Friday night against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Tip-off inside TD Garden is set for 7:00 p.m. ET.
