With the regular season just a few days away, the Boston Celtics have trimmed their roster down in size from 20 to 16 in one fell swoop. They’ve waived four of their training camp invites in Daniel Dixon, Jonathan Holmes, L.J. Peak, and Andrew White, per ESPN’s Chris Forsberg.

Dixon, Peak, and White were all undrafted free agents in this year’s draft, while Holmes went undrafted in 2015.

The four didn’t see much, if any, playing time in preseason. Although the Celtics still had one roster spot open for a guaranteed contract, none had much of a chance to make the roster this season.

Holmes, who was a part of the gold-medal winning USA team in this summer's FIBA AmeriCup, played for Spanish club FC Barcelona and the Canton Charge of the G League last season.

The Charge traded his rights in September to the Maine Red Claws, the Celtics’ G League affiliate. Holmes could opt to play with Maine this upcoming season, as could the other three after getting waived.

The Celtics’ roster now stands at 16 players with 14 guaranteed contracts and two players Jabari Bird and Kadeem Allen on two-way contracts.

With those two likely to start the season at the G League, the Celtics still have one more roster spot open on their 15-man roster. However, president Danny Ainge may just opt to keep that roster spot open to start the season.
