The Boston Celtics are not going to make any modifications to one thing that worked for them in Game 5 of the Eastern Conference finals. According to Jay King of The Athletic, Celtics head coach Brad Stevens will stick to the same starting lineup that led his team to a 96-83 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers last Wednesday for Friday night’s road game at the Quicken Loans Arena.

Stevens was secretive of the composition of his first five unit ahead of Game 5, but it was later known that he replaced Marcus Morris in the starting lineup with Aron Baynes. While Boston lost some potency on offense with Baynes trading places with Morris, the beefy center was instrumental in helping the Celtics win the battle on the glass.

After getting outrebounded by at least 10 rebounds in Games 3 and 4, the Celtics were able to outwork Cleveland on the boards in Game 5 with 45 rebounds as against the Cavs’ 39. Baynes played 29 minutes in that contest — the most he’s had in the series – and his presence made a noticeable impact on Cavs’ big man Tristan Thompson, who only came away with six rebounds after pulling down 12 in the previous outing. Baynes finished the game with six points, seven rebounds, and three blocks.

The Celtics aim to end the series tonight in Cleveland, where they will have to get over their road struggles in the playoffs, as they are just 1-6 away from home this postseason.
