Boston Celtics guard Kemba Walker finally made his return on the court after missing time due to a knee injury. According to head coach Brad Stevens, the Celtics plan to rest Walker on the second game of back-to-back sets for the whole year in order to save his knees from the occasional wear and tear as the season progresses, via Brian Robb.

Walker played his first game of the season on Jan. 17 against the New York Knicks where he notched nine points, three rebounds, and four assists through 19 minutes of action. The Celtics eventually suffered a 105-75 blowout loss at the hands of the upstart Knicks.

Head coach Brad Stevens eventually ramped up Walker's minutes in the following games as he scored 19 points apiece in their back-to-back games against the Philadelphia 76ers which both resulted in losses.

The four-time All-Star made a valiant contribution in their game against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Sunday night when he scored 21 points in 23 minutes for the Celtics. He didn't need to play much as Boston dealt their opponents with a 141-103 beating.

A day after their win over the Cavs, Walker opted to rest as the team headed to face the Chicago Bulls on Monday night. Jaylen Brown topped the Celtics in scoring with 26 points while Jayson Tatum added 24 points in his first game back from missing multiple games due to a positive COVID-19 case.

The Celtics eventually grabbed a 119-103 victory en route to a 10-6 record for the second spot in the Eastern Conference. Kemba Walker taking a rest in back-to-back games will potentially be the trend for the 30-year-old playmaker in order to keep his knees healthy.

It won't be a big deal if the Celtics continue to win despite occasionally missing the services of their starting point guard during games. They will look to snag their third consecutive victory as they visit the San Antonio Spurs on Jan. 27.
