The Boston Celtics have some new faces to welcome to town ahead of the 2019-20 campaign. While former Charlotte Hornets point guard Kemba Walker leads such a group, the Celtics also have a new face to welcome to the team's coaching staff in former ESPN analyst and former WNBA point guard Kara Lawson.

While signing on as an assistant coach with the Celtics this offseason, Lawson was first prompted to leave her previously role as a commentator for the Washington Wizards.

Although happy to have Lawson alongside him on the bench going forward, Celtics head coach Brad Stevens is apparently going to miss her calling Wizards games as well.

”She's a student of the game. Not only the X's and O's,” New York Liberty head coach Katie Smith told NBA.com upon learning of the Celtics' decision to hire Lawson. “She's done the 3-on-3, and she's an analyst. She's always studying the game. For her it's the way she approaches the game. She's a great person and will connect really well and work really hard.”

It is hard to find someone who is not happy that Lawson as officially made her way to the Celtics bench, even if it means that she can no longer call Wizards games.

”Kudos to the NBA and their teams,” Dallas Wings head coach Brian Agler added, via NBA.com. ”They are opening their minds. Having coached some of these people, they really know the game.”

The Celtics are headed in a brand new direction on all fronts with current Brooklyn Nets point guard Kyrie Irving forcing the franchise into a new era.
