Jayson Tatum had quite the 24-hour turnaround during the Boston Celtics' recent back-to-back set. The Celtics star scored 28 points on a highly efficient 12-of-15 shooting night to lead Boston to a 111-104 victory over the Chicago Bulls.
Celtics head coach Brad Stevens praised Tatum for his aggressive approach against the Bulls:
Jayson Tatum sometimes gets caught with playing iso ball, breaking down his defenders with dribble moves and then pulling up for tough mid-range pull-ups that, to his credit, he can knock down with the best of them. Still, as Stevens would probably desire, it might be best for Tatum's efficiency and the Celtics' offense for the 6-foot-8 forward to take the ball to the bucket more often.
Tatum's standout performance came after an abysmal 2-of-16 shooting night in their tight 106-103 win over the Atlanta Hawks on Friday. Despite the sour outing from the field, JT still managed to get 13 points versus the Hawks, with nine of his points coming from the charity stripe.
For the season, the third-year wing is posting career-high numbers in points (21.3), rebounds (7.0), assists (2.8), and steals (1.4) as he makes a bid for a possible All-Star selection along with teammate Jaylen Brown. While his efficiency from the field (42.6 percent shooting overall) could use some work, Jayson Tatum's shot selection has shown some improvement as his shot frequency from 16 to 25 feet from the basket has decreased.
