The Boston Celtics may have lost former All-Star Al Horford in free agency, but they have several big men who can collectively fill the big void he left, according to head coach Brad Stevens.

Stevens was recently a guest at NBC Sports Boston's Celtics Talk Podcast, and he said that the centers that they have have a unique set of skills which will definitely help the Celtics on both ends of the floor next season.

“That center position for us is going to be — each of those guys brings a unique versatility to us. And we’re going to lean on all of them.

After losing Horford to the Philadelphia 76ers, the Celtics re-signed Daniel Theis and brought Enes Kanter and Vincent Poirier. They have also signed undrafted big Tacko Fall to an Exhibit 10 contract, and these four, plus Robert Williams, means that they have an intriguing set of bigs that could play a pivotal role in their aspirations to contend for a championship.

Theis and Williams have already shown Celtics fans their potential. Kanter is a beast on the boards who could also become a 3-point threat next season. Fall has shown promise during the Summer League, and Poirier, although relatively unknown, already has experience playing professional basketball overseas.

Stevens likes what he sees from this group.

“So that will be a fun group because it’s not like maybe we’ve had in the past where you have a guy like Horford, who you play through at the 3-point line so much. And you’ve got to play through other guys in different ways.”

Horford was instrumental during the Celtics' playoff runs, and losing him definitely hurts the team. But they have responded well by bringing several guys who might be better than Big Al but are willing do everything that they can to make their own mark in Boston.
