Boston Celtics head coach Brad Stevens is a pretty coveted name in the world of professional coaching right now. So much so, that the 44-year-old was reportedly offered a huge amount of money to take over the helm for the Indiana Hoosiers.

As it turns out, however, Stevens is more than happy with his job in Boston. So much so, that he reportedly turned down a $70 million contract with Indiana University (h/t The Jump on ESPN on Twitter):

This tidbit was revealed by none other than NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski, who also provided the numbers involved in what could have been a blockbuster deal for Stevens:

“[Stevens] publicly … came out to say that he was not interested in that Indiana University job that opened a few weeks ago,” Woj said, via Paul Kasabian of Bleacher Report. “I was told that Indiana was prepared to offer him seven years, $70 million.

“But he did not entertain it. Leaving the Boston Celtics for a college job, it doesn't make sense. He's in that high-six-, low-seven-million-dollar-year range anyway.”

The Celtics signed Stevens to an extension last year, and while the details of the contract were not revealed, Woj gave us a preview here of just how much coach Brad is making in Boston right now. That is indeed a whole lot of money, but it's still roughly $3 million per year shy of what he would have earned coaching the Hoosiers.

It is worth noting that Stevens is a native of Indiana too, so this move would have been a homecoming of sorts for him. Nevertheless, coach Brad has made it abundantly clear where his loyalty lies right now.
