Plus-minus is a statistic that should be viewed with some skepticism, but there is no denying Daniel Theis' impact in the Boston Celtics' 56-point drubbing of the Chicago Bulls. Theis was a jaw-dropping plus-50 on the night per Dakota Randall of NESN.

Theis assumed some of the minutes that Aron Baynes usually gets, as the big man is still working his way back from a left ankle sprain. Theis didn't miss a beat filling in for the injured Baynes.

Daniel Theis had one of the best games of his NBA career, putting up 22 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists. The German big man did it efficiently as well, shooting 8-for-15 from the floor.

The Celtics didn't start the season as the powerhouse that many expected them to be. But they are starting to look like the team that some believed could challenge the Golden State Warriors in the NBA Finals. Boston has rattled off five straight victories to push their record to 15-10.

Those five victories feature the 56-point thrashing of the Bulls, a 28-point victory over the Knicks, a 33-point dismantling of the Cavaliers, and a relatively easy 17-point victory over the Pelicans.

Boston is as deep a team as there is in the NBA and when guys like Theis are performing at a high level, Boston is nearly unbeatable. To put this performance in perspective, Daniel Theis has struggled to remain in head coach Brad Stevens' rotations at times this year.

But he's clearly a guy who is capable of erupting seemingly out of nowhere. The Celtics are starting to get hot and the Eastern Conference should take notice.
