Danny Ainge and the Boston Celtics have been “close” to pulling the trigger on some trade deals that could help stars Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown help turn the Celtics around. How close you ask? Well, it's still not known if and when the trades are going to go through, according to Brian Robb of MassLive.

Ainge said the following when asked about potential moves the Celtics may make prior to the trade deadline, via Robb:

“I don’t have those answers and it’s probably not the time that it’s going to be answered,” Danny Ainge said. “It’s rare that trades get done (not close) to the deadline. We’re talking and we’re trying to do some things. We’ve been close a couple times. Time will tell.”

Ainge does not have time if he wants the Celtics to be at the same spot they were in last year when it comes to the playoffs. Tatum and Brown were recently named All-Stars, but despite the young talent that Boston has fostered over the past couple of years, their lack of experience may be getting the best of them.

According to Ainge, the Celtics need scoring off the bench that compliments the high level of play of Tatum and Brown. The Celtics can not compete in the Eastern Conference if they continue to lose seven out of their last ten games.

Danny Ainge and the Celtics organization need to ask themselves is now the time to turn things around or be content with a mediocre season with a slim chance of earning a spot in the playoffs.
