Following the blockbuster deal that landed them four-time All-Star point guard Kyrie Irving, Boston Celtics president Danny Ainge has shared his thoughts on the transaction that sent shockwaves around the NBA.

The 58-year-old front office executive spoke about the addition of one of the best guards in the NBA today, via a team release on Celtics.com. He made it known that he thinks very highly of him, and that he believes he can still play better in the coming years.

“Kyrie is one of the best scorers in the NBA. He has proven that on the biggest stage, the NBA Finals, the last three years,” said Ainge. “He’s been an NBA Champion, an Olympic Gold Medalist, and a four-time All-Star. For all he’s accomplished, we think his best years are ahead of him.”

Selected first overall back in the 2011 NBA Draft, Irving quickly made an impact for the Cleveland Cavaliers, and established himself as a future star in the league. Despite the lack of success of the Cavs in his earlier years, he gave their fans a lot to be optimistic about in their future. When LeBron James decided to play for the team once again in 2014, they formed a dynamic duo that won a championship last year, and made it to three straight Finals.

With the amount of assets the Celtics gave up to secure his services, Irving will have a lot of pressure on his shoulders to prove that he is worth what the team traded for him. The good news for Uncle Drew is that he will have a good chance to live up to Ainge's claim, as the C's have formed a very strong lineup for next season, that includes Gordon Hayward, Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown and Al Horford, to help him bring more success to the storied franchise.
