One of the most impressive parts of the Boston Celtics success this season has been how they have overcome the injuries to Kyrie Irving and Gordon Hayward.

As happy as Irving and Hayward have been with the Celtics success this season, Danny Ainge said it's also bittersweet for these guys, as they cam to Boston to have runs just like this. He was on 98.5 the Sports Hub's “Toucher and Rich” show, simulcast on NBC Sports Boston to talk about the Celtics playoff run.

“It’s hard on those guys,” Ainge said. “This is why they wanted to come to Boston, what’s going on now and they don’t get to be a part of it.”

Gordon Hayward went down with a serious leg injury in the first game of the season, and Kryie Irving has dealt with a knee injury that dated all the way back to a 2015 surgery. He had to have surgery to remove the screws from that surgery after they became infected.

For both of these guys, even though they are frustrated with not being able to play, they are still very happy with what the team has been able to accomplish so far.

“They are excited for this young group of guys [and] Al Horford, they're excited for all those guys,” Danny Ainge said. “All I can do is think about how good we’ll be with them. Because those guys are good and our depth will be great. It’ll be a lot of fun.”

The good news for the Celtics is that these guys should be back next season, and that will make for an even better team moving forward.
