Boston Celtics guard Marcus Smart is dealing with an eye infection, an ailment which has forced him to just sit at his house, according to Celtics president Danny Ainge.

Smart has missed the last four games for Boston. Ainge says Smart has been “quarantined at home” due to his eye infection.

“He was just quarantined at home,” Ainge said on 98.5 The Sports Hub with Toucher and Rich, via the Boston Sports Journal.

“But he’s been getting better. I’ve been talking to him every day. I’m hoping that he’ll be healthy — he hasn’t played basketball or even been out of bed much over the last week, 10 days, so we need to get him back out on the court, sweating and making sure he’s healthy and feeling good.”

Smart has appeared in 20 games this season for the Celtics. He's averaging 11.8 points, 3.4 rebounds and 4.6 assists and shooting 38.7 percent from the field, 33.3 percent from beyond the arc and 87.9 percent from the free-throw line.

The Celtics are in second place in the Eastern Conference with a record of 18-7. They host the Detroit Pistons on Friday, a game they should be able to win even if Smart or Gordon Hayward don't play since the Pistons aren't that good.
