The 2018-2019 NBA regular season has just started but there has already been a lot of buzz regarding the upcoming 2019 free agency season. One of the teams that is looking to put themselves in a position to get a superstar or two is the New York Knicks.

One of the players who are on the Knicks' radar is Boston Celtics guard Kyrie Irving. NBC Sports Boston’s A. Sherrod Blakely was recently quoted in saying that the Knicks have already zeroed in on acquiring Kyrie Irving.

In a recent interview on the Bulls Talk Podcast, Blakely said:

“I’ve spoken with people within [the Knicks] organization. They have made it absolutely crystal clear to me that, if they had their pick of guys that are going to be in the free-agent market [next] summer, Kyrie would be their first, second, third, and fourth choice. He is a guy they definitely want.”

The newly acquired Knicks head coach David Fizdale also took his shot to maybe recruit Irving. In a tweet from ESPN Knicks Insider Ian Begley, he says Fizdale would pay to see Kyrie play.

@IanBegley: David Fizdale says Kyrie Irving is ‘the one guy’ he would pay to see play.

It would be understandable if Irving does end up in a Knicks uniform next summer. The appeal of playing in a market like New York is tough to pass up on. Not to mention the Knicks have some young stars of their own led by Kristaps Porzingis. Getting a guy like Irving could be that last piece to help them get some consistent playoff success, something the franchise has not been able to have in recent years.
