The cameras of TMZ Sports recently caught up with new Boston Celtics center Enes Kanter. As expected, the brief discussion centered around the big man's current problems with his home nation of Turkey and how he has been dealing with them.

Toward the end of the interview, though, Kanter provided all of us with a bit of a surprise by announcing that not only is he working to become a United States citizen, but he is also considering adding an American name when he becomes a citizen in two years:

“I'm actually becoming a U.S. citizen in 2 years,” Kanter said … “I'm actually thinking about adding an American name. I'm still thinking about it. I don't know yet.”

Kanter is definitely one for jokes, and he is indeed a pretty funny dude. However, despite the wide grin on his face, he appears to be pretty serious about this potential name change. Then again, this could be Kanter exhibiting his sarcastic sense of humor, so I guess we'll only find out a couple of years from now.

What we are certain of is that the 6-foot-11 big man will need to make the necessary adjustments in his game right now in order for him to properly establish his role on a new-look Boston squad. Everything is pretty much up in the air right now for the C's, and Kanter is in a great position to take part of something that could potentially be great.

Some bumps are indeed expected along the way, with this revamped lineup in need of some getting used to. Nonetheless, Boston has a pretty formidable side on paper, and they should be able to figure things out as they go along.
