New Boston Celtics center Enes Kanter has always been an outspoken activist and critic of injustice, and the weekend's pair of tragic mass shootings isn't stopping the big man from Turkey from expressing his strong opinions.

Kanter, who the Celtics signed to a two-year, $10 million deal over the summer in free agency, took to Twitter after shootings in El Paso, Texas, and Dayton, Ohio, to share his thoughts.

Devastated to hear about what happened in El Paso today,” Kanter tweeted late Saturday evening. “Enough is enough. We must come together.”

Kanter later tweeted “Terrorism has no place in this world,” all capitalized. “We condemn this act of evil that aims to divide us,” the 6-foot-11 center added, referring to the shooting at a Texas Walmart that left 20 dead.

The Boston free-agent acquisition, who has frequently feuded with the Turkish government and President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, also shared an image with the words “Thoughts & Prayers” crossed out, and “Policy & Change” written underneath.

Recently, Kanter was the subject of headlines due to a Long Island, New York, Islamic community center reportedly canceling his free basketball camp for kids due to pressure from Turkish officials. Kanter invoked help from local Congressional representative Kathleen Rice along with Democratic senators Ed Markey and Ron Wyden, from Massachusetts and Oregon, respectively.

“I do these camps as part of charity and giving back to all communities, whether they are Jewish, Muslim, Christian or have no faith at all,” Kanter wrote, via the New York Post. “I am even more disappointed in the Mosque for not calling the police on these thugs. Instead bowing down before this dictator and his regime, the mosque chose to cancel something positive for the kids.”

Kanter last played for the New York Knicks and Portland Trail Blazers during the 2018-19 NBA season before becoming a free agent in the summer and signing with the Celtics.
