Former Boston Celtics player and current Portland Trail Blazers guard Evan Turner wore No. 11 when he played in Boston for two seasons. The eight-year veteran had a funny Instagram comment on a Kyrie Irving post, saying if the star point guard gets his number retired in Boston, everyone will think of him instead of Kyrie.

Irving informally announced that he plans on re-signing with the Celtics in the summer of 2019, bringing joy and relief to the city of Boston and its fans. The five-time All-Star also said he wants to have his No. 11 jersey retired by the franchise one day and hanging from the rafters at the TD Garden.

Evan Turner is obviously having some fun here, and he should. Instagram is a great way for players to be themselves and joke around. Turner clearly knows he's not even half the player Kyrie Irving is, which makes his comment that much better.

Turner played in 163 games with the Celtics. He averaged 10.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, and 5.0 assists per game. The former No. 2 overall pick out of Ohio State was a fan favorite as well. Turner signed a lucrative four-year, $70 million contract with the Trail Blazers in 2016.

If Irving wants to get his number retired by the Celtics, he will have to win at least one championship in Boston. Making All-Star teams and putting up grand statistical numbers won't cut it with the Celtics. That organization is all about winning rings.
