The Boston Celtics have shown this season so far that they are indeed serious title contenders. They are in second place in the Eastern Conference, with their stars living up to expectations and bringing a lot of success to them. Proof of this is how they’ve been dominant during games, leading by huge margins consistently.

However, on Wednesday against the Washington Wizards, the Celtics suffered a defeat that’s not like any other losses they’ve had so far this year. It was their first time to lose a game after holding a lead of at least 20 points, dropping their record to 16-1 now whenever they reach that much of a cushion in a game against their opponents, according to John Schumann of NBA.com.

The game turned out to be a highly-competitive affair, even reaching double overtime. Both teams knocked down one clutch basket after another and did not give an inch until Jayson Tatum missed on a 3-point attempt that would’ve won the game for the Celtics. Washington ultimately came out with the road victory, 125-124.

Bradley Beal led the Wizards’ charge with an impressive stat line of  34 points, seven rebounds, nine assists and two steals, while Markieff Morris also stepped up his game in John Wall's absence, as he recorded 20 points, seven rebounds, and four assists of his own.

The Celtics have now lost two games in a row but will look to get back to their winning ways again on Friday versus the lowly Orlando Magic. It's still uncertain how many of their injured players are going to see action in that game.
