Boston Celtics forward Gordon Hayward can't seem to get a break as he sustained another injury during their game against his hometown Indiana Pacers.

The Celtics star admitted that the pain he got from the hit definitely warranted the early exit he made during the game.

According to Scott Agness of The Athletic, Hayward got a “pretty good headache” due to the “blow to nose” he sustained during the game. He is set to undergo further tests to determine the extent of his injury.

This has got to be disappointing news for Hayward, who just came back to the team after his left hand recovered a lot quicker than initially expected. For him to only play two games and suffer another injury that may keep him out against the Philadelphia 76ers is a stroke of terrible fortune on his part.

In the 24 minutes he played before exiting the game early, Hayward notched nine points, one rebound and three assists on 50 percent shooting.

Moreover, it mars what has been a good year for him. In his second year of ball since his gruesome foot injury in 2017, his numbers are slowly getting back to the levels he was playing during his final year with the Utah Jazz. Over nine games, he has averaged 18 points, seven rebounds and four assists on 57 percent shooting from the field.

Another thing that makes this injury an unfortunate circumstance was the fact that Hayward was playing against the Pacers. As a man who was born and raised in the Hoosier State, he shared his delight to play in front of fellow Hoosiers.

Hopefully for the Celtics, Hayward won't need to sit out their upcoming game.
