The Boston Celtics are expecting Gordon Hayward to suit up for Thursday's game against the Philadelphia 76ers, according to ESPN's Tim Bontemps. Hayward was forced to leave Wednesday night's game against the Indiana Pacers after taking a blow to the nose.

Hayward had some dizziness after the injury and said he had a pretty good headache afterward. He was not put in the league's concussion protocol program and underwent tests today before he was deemed probable to play.

Hayward explained the situation:

“I got hit in the nose [and] couldn't see much,” Hayward said Wednesday night. “Felt pretty dizzy. Because of that I had to come back here, go through the concussion thing and make sure everything was OK.

“I don't believe [I'm in the concussion protocol]. Filled out some of the forms, but we'll see how it goes.”

The 6-foot-8 forward put up 14 points in his return after a month-long absence due to a broken hand, and then he had nine points and three assists in 25 minutes against Indiana.

The Celtics will try to keep an eye on him after missing a month's worth of action, but the hope is that he will return to having the strong bounce-back year he had through his first eight games with the team after a seesaw 2018-19 season returning from a career-threatening injury.
