The Boston Celtics have listed forward Gordon Hayward out with a sore left foot for Wednesday’s game against the Dallas Mavericks, according to ESPN's Tim Bontemps. Marcus Smart, Robert Williams and Vincent Poirier also remain out.

It's unclear as when the injury occurred, as the team has had six days off since their last game. Yet Hayward has had a few nicks since returning from a month-long absence due to a hand injury, including a blow to the nose that forced him to leave the game during his second game back.

Thursday's game against the Philadelphia 76ers was his best effort since returning from injury, scoring 19 points, grabbing four rebounds and dishing out five assists in the loss.

The Celtics will take on a Mavs team that is coming off a shocking win over the Milwaukee Bucks, snapping their season-best 18-game win streak, despite missing their best player in Luka Doncic.

Boston is shorthanded without Hayward, Smart, and Williams, but still has three quality 20-point scorers in Kemba Walker, Jayson Tatum, and Jaylen Brown that could get the job done.

The Celtics have lost two in a row after winning four straight the week prior, looking to snap out of their skid and keep the push for the top spot in the East. They've warded off the Miami Heat to be a whisker above them for third place, but still find themselves a game behind the Sixers and five from the East-leading Milwaukee Bucks.
