Gordon Hayward penned a parting message to the Boston Celtics on Saturday after his agreement with the Charlotte Hornets became public.

In the message, Hayward thanked his Celtics teammates and all Boston fans for the support they showed him in his three-year run with the Cs.

The swingman also said he's excited to get to Charlotte and start the next chapter of his NBA career with the Hornets.

“To the city of Boston, thank you for embracing me as your own these last 3 years. I cannot say thank you enough to all the fans, my teammates, coaches and everyone in the organization I built such strong relationships with. I know there were some ups and downs, but I will always cherish my experience in Boston. I am forever grateful that I was given the opportunity to wear a Celtics uniform and play in front of the Garden faithful,” Gordon Hayward wrote on Instagram.

“To the city of Charlotte, I can’t wait to start the next chapter in my career! I am ready to play for another incredible organization with the Hornets. Let’s get it!”

Hayward appeared in only 125 games with the Celtics due to injuries. He averaged 13.9 points, 5.4 rebounds and 3.6 assists while shooting 48.4 percent from the field, 35.7 percent from beyond the arc and 84.3 percent from the free-throw line.

With the Hornets, Hayward will have a bigger role on offense, which is why he signed with them. On the Celtics, Hayward was behind Kemba Walker, Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum on the totem pole.
