It will be forever ingrained in our minds how Boston Celtics All-Star swingman Gordon Hayward suffered a gruesome leg injury from last year's opening night that cost his team a promising season. The sight of a broken fibula and a dislocated ankle from an awkward landing due to an alley-oop catch will be one of the most unforgettable scenes from last season.

As far as that memory is concerned, it looks like Hayward is the one who has moved on.

According to a tweet from Abby Chin of NBC Sports, the Butler alum is gearing to play in the first preseason game of the Celtics since the unfortunate freak injury.

Normally, preseason games are not exactly as exciting or action-packed as a regular season contest, but with the highly-anticipated return of Gordon Hayward, all eyes will be on their matchup against the Charlotte Hornets. The game might not dazzle us with the real deal yet, but Celtic fans can breathe a sigh of relief seeing him back on the court once again.

In relation, the handicapped Celtics made it to the Eastern Conference Finals without their two All-stars in Kyrie Irving and Hayward. Pushing the LeBron James-led Cleaveland Cavaliers to the brink, until the tenacious Celtics were finally put away in seven games.

With more than a season to get the team chemistry going and the roster at full strength, the Boston Celtics are one of the teams that are expected to rule the East this upcoming season.
