Boston Celtics forward Gordon Hayward has his first signature shoe with Chinese sportswear brand Anta. The Anta GH 1 was revealed on Monday with several colorway options to the sneaker.

Hayward, 29, signed with Anta after previously under an endorsement contract with Nike. The US athletic wear brand did not renew its contract with the Celtics veteran, leaving Anta open to agree to a four-year deal with the former Utah Jazz wing.

Hayward will enter his 10th season in the NBA in the coming fall and his third with the Celtics after signing a four-year deal with the Bean Town franchise worth $128 million. Infamously, Hayward fractured his leg in his first regular-season game with the Celtics, who were facing the Cleveland Cavaliers in October 2017. He would not return for the remainder of the season, instead coming back to the Celtics in 2018-19.

Hayward averaged 11.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game in 72 appearances for Boston last season, shooting 46.6% from the field, 33.3% from 3-point range, and 83.5% from the free throw line.

The Butler University product, who was coached by Brad Stevens in college, too, was a point of divisiveness for the Celtics in 2018-19. Hayward was a black sheep for internal strifes for the Boston club, leaving some to believe he was the ā€œodd man out,ā€ of sorts, on a team then-loaded with Kyrie Irving, Al Horford, Jayson Tatum, and Jaylen Brown.

With Anta, Hayward joins other NBA players like Klay Thompson and Rajon Rondo endorsed by the Chinese brand.
