Boston Celtics small forward Gordon Hayward is excited to play with big man Enes Kanter again.

Hayward and Kanter were teammates for a year with the Utah Jazz. After splitting time with the New York Knicks and Portland Trail Blazers last season, Kanter signed with the Celtics this summer in free agency. Kanter has also spent time with the Oklahoma City Thunder in his career.

Hayward says everyone in Boston is going to love Kanter and “his energy that he brings” to the table:

“Everyone’s going to love his energy that he brings,” Hayward said, via the Boston Globe. “He’s one of the best offensive rebounders in the league, so that’s going to be a no-doubt, but he’s gotten really well at the mid-roll, half-roll area, making decisions in there and also in a game that doesn’t have very many post players. He’s a bucket on the block. He always has been.”

Last season with the Knicks and Blazers, Kanter averaged 13.7 points, 9.8 rebounds and 1.7 assists in 67 games while shooting 54.9 percent from the field and 78.7 percent from the free-throw line. He signed a two-year, $9.7 million deal with Boston.

The Celtics replaced Kyrie Irving with Kemba Walker and Al Horford with Kanter. For Boston to atone for what happened last season, it will need Hayward to play like an All-Star again.
