31 games into the 2018-19 season, Boston Celtics small forward Gordon Hayward admits he is still finding his rhythm on the basketball floor, and frankly, that was to be expected.

The gruesome left ankle injury Gordon Hayward suffered on opening night last season in Cleveland robbed the swingman of his first year in Boston. After a rugged rehab regiment, Hayward has struggled so far this season. He has been coming off the bench since November because he was having trouble playing with the starters.

This whole process has taught Gordon Hayward patience and the hope in Boston is that their high-priced small forward will turn things around in 2019.

Hayward says learning how to play with his new teammates has taken time and that he's doing whatever the team needs him to do.

“It definitely required a lot of patience, even still,” Hayward told Gary Washburn of the Boston Globe. “I’m still finding my rhythm. Like I was saying, with knowing who I’m out there on the court with, what I’m going to be asked to do, and what the team needs me to do. Patience is a good word for that.”

Entering Monday, Gordon Hayward is averaging 10.6 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game while shooting 40.6 percent from the field, 32.5 percent from beyond the arc and 88.9 percent from the free-throw line.

The Celtics are 21-14 on the year, good for fifth place in the Eastern Conference standings.
