Boston Celtics forward Gordon Hayward has spent the 2018-19 season on the comeback trail. While his numbers are curious for a former All-Star on the surface, his road back from his harrowing leg injury that ended his 2017-18 year just as it began appears to be hitting its apex. Hayward said that he is feeling as good as he has all season when going towards the basket:

Hayward has scored in double figures in four consecutive games, the first time he has done so since early January. While his scoring average of 11.8 points per game during March hasn't differed all that much from earlier in the year, he shot 55.6 percent overall, a season-best mark.

It has also been a season of adjustments for Hayward, who has had to transition to a bench role for the first time since the 2012-13 year when he was a member of the Utah Jazz. Boston has had a plethora of offensive mouths to feed, leaving Hayward to attempt just 8.8 field goals per game, his fewest since his rookie year.

As the Celtics get set to embark on a playoff run with the hopes of reaching the NBA Finals, Hayward will certainly be a key contributor if they are to get there. He and Kyrie Irving were absent from the team's run to Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Finals last year, but now with a healthy Hayward back in the fold, he could be the missing piece the team has been seeking.
