The Boston Celtics have a surplus of talent, which Gordon Hayward knows as well as anyone. His teammates stepped up in his absence last season, resulting in serious questions regarding who should start on opening night. But Hayward doesn't seem to care who starts:

The depth on the roster is unreal. Hayward, Kyrie Irving, Al Horford, Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown, Terry Rozier, Marcus Morris, and Marcus Smart are all players capable of starting in the NBA. But that doesn't seem to matter much to Hayward. He told Brian Robb of BostonSportsJournal.com:

“I’m not worried about it at all. We’re worried about putting up a banner. It doesn’t matter to me.”

That's exactly what Celtics fans want to hear. Hayward's focus is on the big picture. The team has the pieces to compete for a trip to the NBA Finals at the very least. The roster is as deep as it is talented.

That being said, Hayward will start for Boston if he's healthy. He's a former All-Star and was developing into one of the best players in the NBA prior to his season-ending injury just minutes into last season. As long as he can come back healthy, he'll be a key member of this Celtics roster.

Celtics fans love to remind everyone else that they have the most NBA championships. But Celtics fans only have one championship banner (2008) to show for the last 30 years. Nonetheless, the future is bright in Boston, and it appears that one of their best players already has his priorities in order.
