The Boston Celtics shocked the basketball world on Wednesday after it was revealed that Brad Stevens will be replacing Danny Ainge as the team's new president for basketball operations. The Cs are expected to shake up their roster in the offseason, which might not bode well for a number of their key players.

Marcus Smart has been one of Boston's most important players over the past years but it looks like he could be on his way out this summer:

“I think they’ll trade Smart this summer if I had to guess,” an NBA executive told Michael Scotto of HoopsHype. “Retool around Tatum and Brown if they can get real value for Smart, but a lot up in the air there.”

Another cog that could be on the move is Kemba Walker, who has failed to establish himself as a key player for the Celtics over the past couple of seasons:

“They need to have internal growth,” another NBA executive told HoopsHype. “They’re pretty stuck when it comes to salaries. They’ve been trying to move Kemba Walker for a year now and no one is touching that. Their best bet would be to move Smart, but I don’t know what his market is. They could trade Brown to try to fill a different position, but that would be a bad move.”

It is worth noting that Jaylen Brown's name has also been dragged into trade whispers, but as indicated by the statement of the anonymous executive above, doing so could be a huge mistake for the Celtics.

Evan Fournier is another player that could be leaving Boston in the summer, with the veteran swingman set to enter free agency:

“He’s going to look for $15-20 million a year,” an NBA executive estimated when speaking to HoopsHype. “I’m not sure where he gets that from. They’ll have to keep him since they can’t replace him. It’ll be interesting because they have never been willing to pay the tax, so getting around that will be hard for them. If they let him walk, there’s no replacement.”

Things could get ugly in Boston over the course of the next few months as they look to usher in a new era. If the above reports hold true, then we could be looking at an entirely new Celtics squad next season.

Right now, it looks like Jayson Tatum is the only player that has earned untouchable status, with everyone else potentially being placed on the trading block. It goes without saying that Brad Stevens is in an unenviable position right now.
