The Boston Celtics defeated the Miami Heat in Game 5 of their Eastern Conference Finals series 93-80 Wednesday night in Miami. Things did not look very good for Boston early on, as they had 10 turnovers and outscored 16-2 in the fast break in the first half. However, their elite defense kept them in the game and only trailed by five at the break.

In the second half, the Celtics completely flipped the script. Boston built what was at one point a 23-point lead over the Heat, as they now control the series heading back to Boston.

After the game, Celtics coach Ime Udoka broke down what was different, and reminded everyone of what they are capable of.

“To be that close and knowing we didn't play our best, we just talked about playing a really clean second half,” said Udoka.

He then talked about what makes this team different from Celtics teams of the past, without saying that specifically. In the second half, Boston continued to defend extremely well, but they were the ones getting out on the break. As Udoka said, when that happens, “we're lethal on both ends.”

The Celtics were the best defensive team in the NBA this year. They posted the best defensive efficiency rating. But from January on, they were miles ahead of the entire league. But offensively, to many people's surprise, the Celtics finished with the fifth best offensive efficiency rating this year.

If the Celtics reach the NBA Finals and square off with the Warriors, it will make an incredibly interesting series. Boston might just be the one team Golden State would not want to face. Since Stephen Curry entered the NBA, the only team in the Eastern Conference he does not have a winning record against is the Celtics at 11-11.
