The Celtics are 28-14 on the season after defeating the Los Angeles Lakers on Monday. They are in fourth place in the Eastern Conference standings.
In 36 games this season, Brown is averaging 20.0 points, 6.8 rebounds and 2.4 assists. He’s shooting 49.1 percent from the field, 39.1 percent from beyond the arc and 75.2 percent from the free-throw line.
Many believe one of the reasons Brown is flourishing this season is because he got his contract taken care of. Brown signed a rookie-scale extension with the Celtics before the season started, so he’s playing free now and turning into an elite two-way player right before our eyes.
Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge is starting to look really smart for not trading Jayson Tatum and Brown for some of the superstars who have requested trades over the past few seasons.
The Celtics appear on their way to redeeming themselves after last season’s dysfunctional campaign which saw them lose to the Milwaukee Bucks in the second round of the playoffs in five games.
As for Brown, we’ll see if he’s able to play against the Grizzlies. He put up 20 points in 32 minutes versus the Lakers.
