Boston Celtics swingman Jaylen Brown offered some words of mature advice to his hundreds of thousands of followers on social media.

In light of the coronavirus pandemic, Brown advised his fans that the next two weeks could be very different:

In an unprecedented move, the NBA officially decided to suspend the regular season on Wednesday night. The league has two confirmed cases of COVID-19 as of Thursday afternoon: Utah Jazz teammates Rudy Gobert and Donovan Mitchell. Teams around the league have begun testing of their own.

Brown shared his concern about the pandemic in a Instagram post that was sent out before the NBA decided to suspend the season. As part of his video message, the 23-year-old Celtics rising star warned those who might be making fun of the pandemic.

“It's past the outbreak phase,” Brown said of the coronavirus in his message. “Now we're reaching like a pandemic. It's hit the NBA.

“I wanted to be the first to say that I see a lot of young people making jokes and dismissing it,” the Celtics swingman added. “Maybe you might not be affected by it, but somebody else that you probably know will. Whether it's elderly, people who are sick already, or people affected by other diseases already. These people might not have the immune system to fight this virus off.

“It may not be something that concerns you, but be aware and sympathetic of the people around you. This is urgent.”

At this point, it's not clear when (or if) regular season games will resume. As part of an appearance on Thursday's episode of ESPN's “Get Up, Mavs owner Mark Cuban suggested that that season could be played into July (or even August) if needed.

As it stands now, there will be no games played until medical officials deem it safe. People should listen to the Celtics youngster and his advice.
