Coming up as a young budding star in his native St. Louis, Missouri, Jayson Tatum once asked LeBron James for a follow back on Twitter after the two met in April of 2012.

HoopsHype's Alex Kennedy dug up this gem of a once-eager 14-year-old Tatum bringing up his old family in hopes for a nod from the King.

The now-Boston Celtics forward brought mention to his uncle and James' former teammate Larry Hughes, who grew up in the same area as Tatum, even attending Saint Louis University during the late 80's.

As fate would have it, Tatum and James would square off in the 2017-18 season-opener, posting a 14-point, 10-rebound double-double in his debut with the Celtics in a three-point loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

James, now in his 15th season in the league has yet to follow the young buck back on Twitter. Despite being a starter and drafted with the No. 3 overall pick this season and attended James' school of what-if choice, he might need to earn his stripes some more to get the Cavs forward's attention.

Judging by Tatum's start to this season, it might not take long for him to get James' attention. He recorded a career-high 22 points against the New York Knicks on Tuesday, sprinkled with four rebounds, four blocks, two assists, and two steals in a convincing 21-point win.
