Boston Celtics star forward Jayson Tatum didn't hold back when discussing the possibility of teaming up with Bradley Beal. Tatum said to Abby Chin of NBC Sports Boston that he and Beal have discussed the opportunity to team up and both like the idea of it.

Tatum and Beal are both natives of St. Louis, Missouri and were standouts at Chaminade College Preparatory School. The two are very close friends, hence Tatum referring to Beal, who is five years older, as his big brother. When they were training for the Olympics together this past summer, they explained to Chase Hughes of NBC Sports how tight their bond is.

Beal described their friendship as “special” and says he is always rooting for Tatum's success. Tatum described what Beal has meant to him in great detail.

“I think that was the mentor and older brother that I didn't technically have in the house. Someone that just accomplished everything that I was trying to do. I've seen how to do it firsthand, what it took from 1-on-1 workouts to picking me up every day in the summertime,” Tatum said

Beal has been one of the most prominent names in trade rumors for years. While his Washington Wizards constructed mediocre teams around him, the three-time All-Star shooting guard hasn't shown serious interest in leaving the franchise. He is currently averaging 24.4 points, 6.2 rebounds and 4.8 assists for the 5-1 Wizards. Beal could be a free agent this offseason if he declines his player option for next season.

Meanwhile, Tatum and the Celtics are off to a cold start. Their 2-4 record includes a loss in double overtime to the Wizards. Tatum is averaging 26.7 points, 9.2 rebounds and 3.8 assists. He is under contract with the Celtics for at least the next three seasons after this one.
