Jayson Tatum and the Boston Celtics looked to be on their way to a crucial victory against the Golden State Warriors after being in control for the most part of Game 4 of the NBA Finals. However, when the final buzzer sounded, they were on the losing end.

While Stephen Curry dominated and punished their opponents, the Celtics didn't help themselves with a poor showing in the fourth quarter. Tatum and Co. scored just three points in the final five minutes of play–and just six with 7:32 to go–allowing the Warriors to create a sizeable lead for the 107-97 win.

During his postgame presser, Tatum was asked why the Celtics are making it hard for themselves, to which the star forward got brutally honest.

“We don’t do this s**t on purpose. I promise you that,” Tatum shared, per Tim Bontemps of ESPN.

For what it's worth, Jayson tatum did shoulder the blame for their Game 4 loss. He was not at his best self in the match, and that was clear with his poor shooting display and lack of aggressiveness.

Tatum finished with 23 points, but he did so on 34.8 percent shooting from the field. He also had a game-high six turnovers, which proved to be costly for the Celtics.

“It's on me. I've gotta be better. I've gotta be more efficient. Shoot the ball better, finish at the rim better. I've gotta be better. Let's get after it on Monday,” Tatum said of the loss, according to NBA insider Keith Smith.

Tatum has bee inconsistent in the NBA Finals so far, and it is quite clear the Celtics need him to play better so as not to make it difficult for themselves. He is the biggest piece for Boston, and for their plan to work, he must function well.
