Jayson Tatum forged his name beside basketball legend Larry Bird en route to helping the Boston Celtics clinch a playoffs berth.

In their 114-111 victory over the Indiana Pacers on Tuesday, Tatum finished with 30 points, tying the Celtics' franchise record of five straight road games with at least 30 points. Among the legendary players who have donned the green and white jersey, only Bird and Tatum have accomplished the feat.

Along with his 30 markers, Tatum also had six rebounds and two assists. He was 11-of-22 from the field, 3-of-9 from deep, and 5-of-6 from the free-throw line.

Apart from tying Larry Bird's franchise record, Tatum also became the first Boston player to record 50 straight games with at least 10 points in his first three NBA seasons since Celtics icon Paul Pierce.

As expected, Jayson Tatum has immediately risen into one of the most important players for the Celtics. From surprising the world in his performance in the 2018 NBA Playoffs as a rookie, the Duke standout is now a star in his own right.

This season, Tatum is averaging 23.4 points per game, a huge improvement from last year's 15.7 per contest. He also improved his 3-point shooting and is currently at a 39.9 percent clip from last year's 37.3 percent. For his efforts, he was selected into the All-Star game in Chicago last February.

The Celtics' playoff berth marks their sixth straight under head coach Brad Stevens. Over the last 13 seasons, the franchise has only missed the playoff once, a testament to their great and well-run organization. Now, as they prepare for another postseason campaign, all eyes will be on their young star.
