Boston Celtics head coach Brad Stevens says small forward Jayson Tatum is pretty close to being able to return from his groin injury.

Tatum has missed the previous two games for the Celtics and won't play on Tuesday against the Miami Heat:

The Celtics are 30-15 on the season. They are in fourth place in the Eastern Conference standings.

Tatum has appeared in 42 games this season for the Celtics. He’s averaging 21.5 points, 6.9 rebounds and 2.9 assists while shooting 43.5 percent from the field, 36.6 percent from beyond the arc and 84.1 percent from the free-throw line.

Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge is starting to look really smart for not trading Tatum and Jaylen Brown for some of the superstars who have requested trades over the past few seasons. Both youngsters are playing like All-Stars this season.

The Celtics will be cautious with Jayson Tatum moving forward since groin injuries aren’t to be taken lightly. The talented scorer has career averages of 16.2 points, 5.8 rebounds and 2.1 assists with Boston.
