With the All-Star Game on Sunday, players around the league are preparing to show off their skills, or enjoy a nice break if they're not involved with any of the contests. After the Boston Celtics clinched their fourth win in a row, Jayson Tatum was asked about playing alongside Bradley Beal, the superstar shooting guard for the Washington Wizards. The two St. Louis products were selected to be on Kevin Durant's team.

Via Jacob Camenker of NBC Sports Boston:

“I was excited. That's what I was hoping for.”

The Celtics star further explained just why he's so excited:

“Everybody knows how close we are and the history that we have. It's just a really special moment,” Tatum said. “Two guys from the same high school, same neighborhood, kind of grew up together starting an All-Star Game. . . It don't get no better than that.”

Beal was likely someone Tatum looked up to growing up. With Beal being 27 and Tatum being 22, the age difference prevented them from playing together, and Beal claimed they've never played on the same team. They're now getting that special opportunity in this All-Star Game.

Both players are stars for their respective teams. Tatum is currently averaging 24.9 points, 4.5 assists, and 7.1 rebounds for the Celtics. Meanwhile, Beal is putting up impressive numbers himself, averaging 32.9 points, 4.7 assists, and 5.4 rebounds for the Wizards.

Both Jayson Tatum and Bradley Beal deserve to be in the All-Star Game this year, and they're going to cherish being able to play on the same team.
