The outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic has left several NBA players in a less than ideal situation. Now, instead of simply making a trip to their training facilities for a workout, the athletes are forced to keep themselves in shape from home. For some, including Celtics forward Jayson Tatum, this wasn't as easy as it sounds.

For a while, Tatum was actually without a basketball hoop. He simply didn't have one at his home to practice on, for whatever reason. That changed this week, however.

According to a report from NBC Sports Boston, Tatum now has a hoop named “Big Deuce” at his house:

Earlier this month, Tatum admitted that he hadn't touched a basketball since his last game with the Celtics. Now he'll at least be able to practice his shooting stroke.

Via NBC Sports Boston:

“I haven't been able to touch a basketball since our last game at Indiana,” Tatum said to Rachel Nichols on ESPN's The Jump. “I got stuff to work out at home and cardio and weights and stuff, but yeah. I haven't played basketball in a long time.”

The NBA decided to suspend the 2019-20 regular season in mid-March, shortly after Utah Jazz big man Rudy Gobert became the first confirmed case in the league. His teammate, Donovan Mitchell, tested positive shortly after. Since then, several other players and staffers have contracted the virus.

Tatum's new driveway hoop might not get much use, though, as the NBA is targeting May 8 for the reopening of training facilities, at least in places where stay-at-home orders have been relaxed. Massachusetts has a stay-at-home order in place until May 18, but the Celtics could follow the Los Angeles Lakers' lead and try to work something out in order to get their players back to their practice facility earlier.

This all is obviously a good sign for the return of basketball, but players will still need to maintain the current social distancing standards and be tested on a regular basis.
