Boston Celtics star Jayson Tatum contracted COVID-19 in January and subsequently missed several games. While he seems to be doing okay now, the swingman admitted that he's still isn't ‘normal' after recovery.

Per Aaron Rose of Sports Illustrated, Jayson Tatum shared that it'll take him a while to feel 100 percent. He noted that while he isn't feeling ‘normal,' he is feeling better every day.

In the Celtics' latest win, 132-125 over the Toronto Raptors, Jayson Tatum had a pretty productive night with 27 points, 12 rebounds, and five assists across 37 minutes of play. He also hit some big shots in the last few minutes of the game to propel Boston against the team which extended Brad Stevens' club to seven games in last year's Eastern Conference semifinal series as part of the Orlando bubble playoffs.

Stats reveal that Jayson Tatum doesn't seem hindered by the effects of COVID-19 on his body. Last month, the swingman averaged 28.8 points per game as well as 6.3 rebounds. There were a few hiccups such as his six-point output in a loss to the Washington Wizards as well as a nine-point production in a win over the Indiana Pacers.

But overall, Jayson Tatum has been on a tear.

But from a team perspective, the Celtics aren't exactly doing well for their standards. As of this writing, they have a 19-17 record — not really impressive for a perennial playoff contender. Last week, amid the announcement of being named into his second All-Star game, Jayson Tatum voiced his displeasure at the Celtics subpar record:

“It’s like damn, look at our record, it’s hard to really focus on (the All-Star Game), when we’re not where we want to be as a team. It’s an honor to be an All-Star but we’re used to winning games and being at the top of the East,” Jayson Tatum said, per Gary Washburn of the Boston Globe.

Perhaps the good thing is that Jayson Tatum and the Celtics can finally rest up and prepare for the second half of the season. Hopefully, Tatum's condition gets better. The Celtics, too, need to show why many considered them as one of the elites.
